An innovative yet simple piece of equipment to recycle your food waste onsite.
Ridan Composters are a cost-effective and environmentally-friendly solution to recycle raw and cooked food waste. They are incredibly easy to operate, use the natural processes of decomposition, and require no electricity.
Managing food waste can be a real challenge for any organisation that provides catering. There are a number of waste treatment options for food waste - anaerobic digestion, windrow composting, landfill - and they have their own benefits and drawbacks, but they all cost money.
The Ridan Composter enables you to treat all of your food waste onsite, making your organisation more environmentally-friendly. Less waste is transported off-site for treatment, reducing your carbon footprint; food waste is diverted away from landfill, lowering the amount of methane (a powerful greenhouse gas) generated; and the compost puts nutrients back into the environment, helping keep materials in the circular economy.
Recycling your food waste with a Ridan Composter will eliminate the collection and disposal costs associated with it. Depending on the size of Ridan you need and the quantity of food waste you produce per month, the payback period is typically 12-24 months. After that your food waste is recycled free. Forever.
Ridan Composters are available to purchase on a 24-month staged-payment contract which includes:
Purchase of all sizes of Ridan Composters are also subject to an initial delivery and installation charge, in addition to the monthly staged payments.
Composting is a natural process where organic matter is decomposed by micro-organisms and converted into nutrient-rich compost.
The Ridan Composter sets up the ideal conditions required to stimulate the process. To create compost, the key ingredients of carbon, nitrogen, oxygen and water must be present. Food waste provides the nitrogen and water; wood pellets are the source of carbon; and turning the handle also aerates the mixture, so allowing oxygen in.
As the micro-organisms break down the organic matter, they generate heat. The heat attracts even more hyper-active micro-organisms, which make the composting process quick and efficient. Being insulated, the temperature inside the Ridan will be 60-70 °C, even on the coldest winter days!
After the mixture has been through the Ridan, it will have completed the hot thermophilic stage of composting, but in order to become a good growing medium it must be matured for a further 2 or 3 months before use.
